A 17-year-old UK youngster is accused with Nigerian murder.
One of the suspects detained in relation to the stabbing incident that killed Nigerian John Onetufo in the Lewisham neighborhood of London on New Year's Eve has been charged with murder, according to the UK Metropolitan Police.
A statement that was taken from the UK police website on Tuesday included this information. revealed on Monday that after making a distress call to the police, the 23-year-old Onetufo was discovered with stab wounds to his chest.
He was declared dead at the site despite the paramedics' reported best efforts to revive him.
The investigation's lead investigator, Detective Chief Inspector Samantha Townsend, had urged anyone with relevant information regarding the incident to come forward.
Townsend stated that the police will make sure the offenders were prosecuted. "I can confirm that two arrests have been made in relation to this tragic incident, and my team has been working tirelessly over the past few days to pursue every line of inquiry."
On Monday, January 5, the boy—who cannot be identified due to his age—was accused of murder. On Monday, January 5, he is scheduled to appear before the Bromley Magistrates' Youth Court.
On Friday, January 2, a 23-year-old male was detained on suspicion of murder alongside the 17-year-old boy. Since then, he has been released on bond while investigations are ongoing.
