According to ADC, a US airstrike exposes Tinubu's incapacity

According to ADC, a US airstrike exposes Tinubu's incapacity.

  • The African Democratic Congress has commented on the airstrikes in Sokoto State by the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), highlighting the pressing need for Nigeria to deal with its internal security issues.

  • "President Bola Tinubu has outsourced his most important constitutional responsibility, effectively taking a back seat in a vehicle that he is constitutionally assigned to drive," wrote Bolaji Abdullahi, a spokesman for the African Democratic Congress, on X on Friday.

  • Nigerians have a right to question who is actually in charge of our nation when the president of Nigeria seems forced to report himself to another head of state, even naming a foreign president in a Christmas Day greeting.

  • The party cautioned that allowing foreign forces to conduct military operations within Nigeria is unsustainable and endangers the country's long-term strategic interests and sovereignty. It emphasized that rather than taking on a supporting role, Nigeria needed to be in charge of such activities.
  •  The federal government's assertion of "collaboration" with the United States, according to the ADC, raises grave concerns because Nigeria seems to primarily serve as an intelligence source rather than exercising complete operational control.

  • The party also called for the federal government to reveal the number of terrorists killed, their identities, and the immediate results of the operation.

  • He also criticized the way Nigerians were made aware of the situation, pointing out that the American president's social media post rather than a direct statement from Nigeria's leader was the source of the first public knowledge.

  • The decision can only be explained as an outlier in light of President Bola Tinubu's administration's historical incapacity to handle the country's security issues.
  • This is what occurs when a government acts as if income collecting is the primary focus of governance and all other matters, such as diplomacy and national security, are merely incidental.
  •  It is also concerning how Nigerians were made aware of this event. The President speaks to the country directly when it comes to politics and propaganda.

  • Nigeria's self-respect, strategic autonomy, and sovereignty, calling on the government to address the important issues brought up by the airstrike.

  1. The ADC also took issue with how Nigerians were told about the airstrikes, pointing out that information from Nigeria was restricted to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman, while the U.S. The president made the first announcement via a social media post.

2. The party urged the government to address the important issues brought up by the airstrike, stressing that although it supports the battle against terrorism, it is very concerned about the incident's effects on Nigeria's sovereignty, strategic autonomy, and self-respect.
